Eastman launches new forum for young musicians. The Eastman School of Music has launched Polyphonic On Campus, anew feature of networking and information website Polyphonic.org. Thisonline forum written by young musicians for young musicians, offersartists with emerging careers and students poised to enter the industrya place where they can connect. It includes video blogs, articles ofcommentary and advice, webinars and directories of numerous journals andmusic sites. The editor of Polyphonic On Campus is Stephen Danyew, aprizewinning composer who received his bachelor's and master'sdegrees from the Frost and the Eastman Schools of Music, respectively.The bloggers include young music directors, chamber music performers,orchestral musicians, conductors and music school faculty members whohave graduated from such institutions as Yale University, IndianaUniversity, the Juilliard School, University of Georgia, University ofMiami and others. Contributors also include current students from theEastman School and Arizona State University. Over the course of a year,the bloggers will share video updates as they pursue their studies andprofessional opportunities. Polyphonic On Campus features a separate section of articles onissues and topics of interest to musicians. Current articles coversubjects such as composing for youth orchestras, webcasting and thegrowing professional responsibilities of conductors.
