Fascinating health care concepts.

Fascinating health care concepts. I read with interest the article on health costs ("ControllingHealth Care Costs," May 2009). I found the trigger mechanism usedby the LAUSD LAUSD Los Angeles Unified School District (Los Angeles, CA)to negotiate rates at a committee level or to require thecovered employees to bear the additional costs when the rates increaseby more than 3.5 percent a fascinating concept. The employees, throughtheir union representatives, are directly involved in the renewalprocess. Although I believe that a committee can be burdensome formanagement, if kept to a handful of knowledgeable and reasonablemembers, this concept may have merit. However, it is clear that those employed in the private sector morefully understand and appreciate the many benefits of health insurance interms of its true costs and value. This appreciation is due largely tothe fact that many private sector employees must contribute toward theirhealth care benefits through a payroll payrolla list of employees, their salary rates, tax deductions, amounts paid, payroll tax, long service leave entitlements. deduction deduction,in logic, form of inference such that the conclusion must be true if the premises are true. For example, if we know that all men have two legs and that John is a man, it is then logical to deduce that John has two legs. , which is rarelyrequired of those employed in the public sector.
